Monday, I played softball for our M&M coed team. I was having a great game...a few hits and I threw out a girl at first...from left field. During the final inning, I had a ground ball hit to me. I charged the ball and got a wicked hop..right into my face. Thankfully, my teeth were okay, but my lip got annihilated. I look like I was in a prison riot.

On Thursday I flew to KC and drove down to Beaver Lake in Arkansas for a fun-filled weekend with my extended family (there was over 20 of us). The weather was great. We enjoyed the water by hanging out at the dock and puttering around on the boat. I ate so much BBQ.

Some of the family chilling in the cabin before heading out into the sun.

Work at Martin & Martin has been going well. We are wrapping up our wooden trestle project and our single span, prestress beam bridge. Next up is work on some I-70 bridges out by Vail. Should be very cool.

On Friday we received an interesting gift from the company. Instead of passing out popcorn for clients for the holidays, M&M created "Martinopoly" games. The board is setup just like Monopoly, but the squares list Martin/Martin projects...so instead of the typical "Boardwalk" and "Park Place," they have "Coors Field" or "Denver Convention Center." Pretty cool...of course, that caramel popcorn is so good.

Another fun-filled day with M&M was the company's annual picnic (which included a live band, air up obstacle courses, a magician for the kids, all the BBQ you could eat, and a very entertaining game of two hand touch football.) Also, last week we started our company bowling league which runs on Wednesday during lunch. This Friday is our annual skeet (the flying disk, not the actor) shooting competition. I have never shot a shotgun, so it could be interesting. We work hard and play hard.

Prison riot, huh . . . that's understating it a bit. Oh, and quit picking on the girls, man. You can't even let her get her earned single? : )

As for the M&M picnic - I am sure it doesn't even come close to BODAR. How soon you forget. I bet they didn't have zoo animals. Ha! So there! Free BBQ . . . Whatever.
